You've probably heard the saying: "Drive for show, putt for dough!" This means that long drives are responsible for the show, but the putts bring in the money. In other words, putting is mainly responsible for winning or losing. Well, that's not 100% true - as is so often the case, the truth lies in the middle. The best putting is of no use if you miss your tee shots so badly that they regularly end up in the undergrowth or even out of bounds.
