What a weekend for golf in Austria: The Austrian Alpine Open presented by Kitzbühel – Tyrol has transformed Kitzbühel into the centre of the international golfing scene over the past few days. Around 32,000 visitors created a unique atmosphere at the prestigious golf tournament, and right at the heart of it all, the 12 Kitzbühel golf hotels were able to showcase the unmistakable Kitzbühel way of life in the visitors’ village.
With summery temperatures, a fantastic atmosphere and just a brief weather-related interruption on Sunday, the tournament proved to be a real highlight for golf enthusiasts, families, children and numerous international guests. The atmosphere along the fairways and in the village was characterised by sport, enjoyment and Tyrolean hospitality.
Pure excitement for Austrian golf fans
From an Austrian perspective, the event proved particularly emotional thanks to the strong performances of the home-grown professional golfers. Right up until the very end on the final day, fans were able to hope for a red-white-red triumph and cheered them on enthusiastically.
An overview of the top Austrian players:
- Bernd Wiesberger – joint 4th place | Total score 265 (-15)
- Maximilian Steinlechner – joint 7th place | Total score 266 (-14)
- Sepp Straka – joint 12th place | Total score 268 (-12)
The tournament was ultimately won by Kota Kaneko (JPN) with an impressive total score of 262 strokes (-18), securing his maiden victory on the DP World Tour.
The Kitzbühel way of life meets a passion for golf
As well as the sporting highlights, the Visitors’ Village provided the perfect meeting place for enjoyment, conversation and inspiration regarding golf holidays in Tyrol. The 12 Kitzbühel golf hotels presented themselves there collectively as hosts for unforgettable days of golf in the Alps.
With regional delicacies, refreshing drinks, personal conversations and plenty of good cheer, visitors were able to get a taste of a golf holiday in Kitzbühel whilst still there. The prize draw slot machine proved particularly popular, bringing smiles to many faces and providing excellent entertainment.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all visitors, golf fans, partners and guests who joined us in making this weekend such a special experience.
The Austrian Alpine Open 2026 has once again demonstrated that Kitzbühel is one of the most beautiful golf destinations in the Alps and continues to inspire people far beyond Austria’s borders.
