Captain's trip to the Hotel Gut Brandlhof from 24-26 May 2023
11 captains/trip organisers and 11 accompanying persons accepted the invitation from Hotel Gut Brandlhof in Saalfelden to get to know the golf resort with its own 18-hole course and the nearby GC Urslautal.
Wednesday lunchtime was the meeting point at the "Einkehr", as the golf club restaurant is known. We were warmly welcomed by those responsible for the golf resort, first and foremost the owner and club president Alexander Strobl and the hotel director Thomas Bauer, and got into the mood for the coming days with coffee, Prosecco and beer.
Then it was straight onto the round of golf at GC Brandlhof, which was cancelled early by all the participants, however, as the onset of rain with strong winds was coming horizontally towards us and continuing to play would have been pointless and, above all, no fun.
So at least there was enough time to enjoy the great hotel, the tastefully furnished rooms and the wonderful wellness area for the first time.

In the evening, we were treated to a delicious 4-course menu in the restaurant and the excellent service from head waiter Ervin and his team was a particular highlight. The catering at breakfast and dinner was exceptional and the food served was excellent on all days: very well cooked, beautifully presented, varied and something for every taste.
On Thursday, we set off for a round of golf at GC Urslautal at 9am. A stunning mountain panorama all around, great views and interesting fairways inspired us from start to finish. Despite weeks of rain, the course was in excellent condition and we were rewarded with sunshine - what more could a golfer's heart want!
In the afternoon, most of the participants were able to get up close and personal with alpacas for the first time. At Monika and Gerhard Wimmer's farm in Euring, we learnt a lot of interesting facts about these cute animals, and a walk with the alpacas helped us overcome our last fears.
After dinner, everyone gathered at the hotel bar to look back on the day and toast the wonderful golf outing.
To round off the day, another 18-hole round awaited us on Friday at GC Brandlhof, this time in wonderful weather and sunshine. Here too, the greenkeepers did a great job and the challenging course presented itself from its best side.
We were invited to the clubhouse terrace for veal sausage and drinks and hotel manager Thomas Bauer bid farewell to the participants in the hope of seeing them again soon at Hotel Gut Brandlhof.
Many thanks to everyone involved for the wonderful time!
I would particularly like to emphasise the warm hospitality and friendliness of all the staff, who made this event a complete success. THANK YOU and see you soon.
