Facts why you should choose a golf vacation in Styria

and why Styria is worth a golf vacation

A wonderful golfing vacation is not just about beautiful golf courses and great golf resorts. It’s the “little things” that can make all the difference. Below you will find a list of further criteria to help you make your decision. Is there anything else you require for a blissful golfing vacation?

1

Eighteen holes of golf will tell you more about your fellow players than nineteen years spent in the same office.

The green heart of Austria features 27 diverse golf courses between the Dachstein mountain range and the vineyards in the south.

During a golfing trip through Styria, the view changes from gigantic mountains to soft, rolling hills, the air changes from a fresh Alpine breeze to an almost Mediterranean atmosphere and the “entertainment” changes from the enjoyment of pristine nature to the enjoyment of cultural events.

Styria’s golf courses offer sporty challenges on hilly golf holes, beautifully maintained fairways, difficult water hazards and fast greens.

2

Grüner See (Green Lake)

A unique spectacle of nature

Every year after the snow and ice have melted on the mountains, the Grüner See (German for “Green Lake”) fills with crystal clear water and shines in a unique shade of emerald green. Its water levels depend on the amount of snow in the winter and on precipitation.

3

The South Styrian Wine Road

Between vineyards and forests

The South Styrian Wine Road is the oldest wine road in Austria and links 5 municipalities. It is only a few kilometres from the national border with Slovenia. Enjoy culinary delights in Southern Styria! Regional specialties, excellent wine and the many local wine taverns will provide unforgettable gourmet moments for your golfing vacation.

4

Graz

The capital of Styria

Graz is the second-largest city in Austria and boasts many remarkable sights. One of them is the Murinsel, an extravagant steel construction floating in the Mur river, where you can enjoy a drink at sundown.

The Schlossberg hill with its famous Uhrturm clock tower is the most important landmark in the city of Graz. The clock tower is 28 metres high and its clockfaces have a diameter of 5 metres.

Like the Murinsel, the Kunsthaus Graz was also constructed in 2003, when Graz was a European Capital of Culture. The blue, bubble-like building blends artfully with the surrounding architecture and is home to the city’s museum of contemporary art.

5

Dachstein Mountains

Thrilling views

At almost 3000 metres above sea level, the Dachstein is the highest mountain range in Styria. The Dachstein suspension bridge is the most highly elevated suspension bridge in Austria and offers breathtaking forward and downward views, with only mountain and rocks for 400 metres below your feet. Enjoy a spectacular mountain scenery in a wonderful natural setting!

6

Red Bull Ring Spielberg

A playground for grown-ups

The heart of the Red Bull Ring is its race track, which is used for national and international motorsports events. Motorsports enthusiasts can take test drives in various race cars. If you simply can’t get enough of motorsports, you can even stay at a hotel right on the Red Bull Ring.
