Vorarlberg Golf Marathon on June 23, 2016
A true race against time: At Vorarlberg Golf Marathon three 18 hole tournaments on three different golf courses were played. We started at dawn in the Golf Club Brand, then we continued golfing at Golfclub Montafon, the oldest golf club of Vorarlberg. Finally, the clubs went into action on the golf course Montfort-Rankweil. An outstanding golf marathon.
With victories of Margit Schurti (GC Bludenz - Braz) and Hans Rüffer (GC Montfort Rankweil) the hot golf marathon ended on Thursday. Already at early five o'clock in the morning, 72 participants started in Tschagguns or Brand on their first round. During the day the temperatures rose well above the 30 degree mark which was quite exhausting for the participants. Only after nine o'clock in the evening, the participants who played 54 holes in total while walking around 30 kilometers, finished their third round in Rankweil.
Pro Hans Rüffer (232 swings) could repeat his victory from last year, but it was very scarce. His club colleague, Karlheinz Meyer, could almost reach the winner except for two shots. Third on the list was Joachim Gantner (241), another player from Rankweil. With nine shots ahead, the victory of Margit Schurti (Bludenz-Braz) was significant, she was followed by colleague Bettina Seeburger (Bludenz-Braz) and Sandra Schaller (Montfort - Rankweil).
