Lower Austria and Vienna State Championships for the General Class at GC Lengenfeld

GC Schloss Schönborn dominates the Lower Austrian State Championships 2023

The Lower Austrian and Viennese state champions in the general class were determined this weekend at GC Lengenfeld.

In addition to the men's and women's 1st flights, the 2nd and 3rd flights also played for advancement on the perfectly prepared 18 holes of the Kamptal course.

In glorious golfing weather from Thursday to Sunday, there were thrilling duels between the highly motivated teams.

In the women's competition, GC Schloss Schönborn beat Colony Club Gutenhof 3:2 on the first day, as did GC Haugschlag against GC Föhrenwald.
While the ladies from Föhrenwald also lost 3:2 to Schönborn on the second day, the ladies from Himberg took the first point with a clear 4.5:0.5 against Haugschlag.
On the final day, the ladies of GC Schönborn were once again unbeatable and won the national title with 3 victories.

The men's 1st flight was played in KO match play mode.
Schönborn had a bye, GC Vienna, GC Schönfeld and GC Föhrenwald qualified for the semi-finals on the first day.
There, Wr. Neustädter clearly beat Schönfeld 4:1, while Schönborn had to play two games against GC Wien in a play-off. In the end, GC Schönborn prevailed 3:2.

The top-class final between GC Schönborn and GC Föhrenwald was clearly won by the men of GC Schönborn with 4:1 and can therefore celebrate with their women's team.
GC Adamstal and the team from Diamond Country Club, which did not take part, were relegated.

Leopoldsdorf

The Viennese national champion was GC Vienna, which came 3rd overall.

Flights 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B played in round robin mode.
As group winners, Colony Club Gutenhof and GC Leopoldsdorf will play first-class next year.
GC SWARCO Amstetten-Ferschnitz and GC Marco Polo secured promotion to the 2nd flight.

Unfortunately, the teams from GC Enzesfeld and GC Schloss Ernegg were relegated to the 3rd flight.

The professional ÖGV team around tournament director Walter Rückershäuser and the referees Karl Charvat and Christian Rosner organised the all-round successful championship excellently.
Supported by the secretarial team of the GC Lengenfeld and spoilt with culinary delights by the GASThouse team, the tournament and the GC Lengenfeld will remain a positive memory for all participants.
