Senior scramble tournament with golfing friends from GC Lipperswil and GC Waldkirch at GC Erlen (Switzerland)

It was supposed to be a beautiful, dry day of golf at GC Erlen, where 90 men gathered to play a friendly Swiss scramble. As so often this year, however, the heavens opened their floodgates and shortly after the start, a heavy thunderstorm caused an interruption lasting around an hour. Luckily for those players who had not yet started.

Many hard-working hands then ensured that the greens were cleared of the puddles of water and play could continue for the time being. But on this day it just wasn't to be and just as the last flights were enjoying our halfway refreshments, the tournament had to be cancelled due to another thunderstorm.

The excellent atmosphere was not affected by the capricious weather, and after all the participants had "dried off", they were invited to the traditional "aperitif" followed by a 3-course meal.

As always, there was great joy at the prize distribution and the raffle, as the Schermer family of hoteliers from the 4*S hotel of the same name in Westendorf, represented by Jakob and his son Maxi, were once again extremely generous and had plenty of valuable prizes on offer.

So this moody day of golf at least came to a conciliatory end and in the end the participants enjoyed the camaraderie, made new friends and still had fun!
