The captain’s trip to Zell am See
from 14 to 16 September 2026
Nine captains/tour organisers and six accompanying persons accepted the invitation to Zell am See for some wonderful introductory days; this trip was supported by the Zell am See – Kaprun Tourist Board, the 4-star Superior Hotel Alpenblick and GC Zell am See.
Course “Schmittenhöhe”
We then set off straight away for a round of golf on the ‘Schmittenhöhe’ course, one of the two challenging 18-hole courses. Surprisingly wet following the overnight rain, the course was nevertheless in very good condition. With a number of undulating, elevated greens and some impressive distances (a par 3 measuring 212 metres), it certainly proved to be a proper ‘challenge’!
After the round, following a quick ‘welcome-back’ drink at the golf club, we headed to check in at the Segl family’s 4*S Hotel Alpenblick, just a 3-minute drive away.
In the evening, we were personally welcomed in the restaurant by the hotel’s owner, Georg Segl, who regaled us with lots of interesting facts about the history and origins of the hotel. We were treated to a delicious four-course meal and received excellent service from the staff.
After the round, following a quick ‘welcome-back’ drink at the golf club, we headed to check in at the Segl family’s 4*S Hotel Alpenblick, just a 3-minute drive away.

Location “Kitzsteinhorn”
On Tuesday, after a lovely breakfast buffet, we set off at 9 am for a round of golf at Zell am See Golf Club. This time, we played the ‘Kitzsteinhorn’ course. The course was in excellent condition and the morning mist gave way to glorious sunshine just in time for the start – a golfer’s dream, what more could you ask for!
Following a very good lunch at the golf club restaurant, the participants were able to spend a few hours in the afternoon making use of the hotel’s facilities, including the spa, before we were picked up by taxi buses at 4.30 pm and driven to the boat landing stage on Lake Zell.
We were welcomed by Daniel, a member of staff from Zell am See – Kaprun Tourism, who told us lots of interesting facts about the region during the one-hour cruise on the MS Schmittenhöhe and supplemented the captain’s announcements with insider stories.
Following a very good lunch at the golf club restaurant, the participants were able to spend a few hours in the afternoon making use of the hotel’s facilities, including the spa, before we were picked up by taxi buses at 4.30 pm and driven to the boat landing stage on Lake Zell.

For dinner, we were invited to the 4* Hotel Cella Central, also run by the Segl family. This charming city hotel was exceptionally cosy; the service and quality of the food were outstanding, and we were even allowed to choose from the extensive à la carte menu. After the transfer back to the Hotel Alpenblick, (almost) everyone gathered at the hotel bar to look back on the day and raise a glass to the lovely golf outing.
9-hole to finish off
To round things off, we had another round on the ‘Kitzsteinhorn’ course on Wednesday – this time just 9 holes, but once again in perfect weather, with a steel-blue sky and sunshine.
We were invited to lunch on the clubhouse terrace, after which all participants set off individually on their journeys home. A wonderful few days of golf in the Zell am See–Kaprun region had come to an end – here’s to seeing you all again soon at the Hotel Alpenblick and at the Zell am See Golf Club.
