The 18-hole course at Seefeld-Wildmoos Golf Club offers a golfing experience that everyone should enjoy at least once in their lifetime.

It all begins with the journey to the golf course. You drive along a narrow road through pine and larch forests, and as soon as you arrive, you can feel the freshness of the Alpine air and smell the scent of nature. The pre-booked golf buggies are waiting for visitors right by the car park. A first-class service for all guests who’d rather use the first ‘climb’ up to the clubhouse to admire the eighteen holes than to warm up.

It gets really fascinating when you play the first hole – the ‘cannon barrel’. And then the course opens up, and you can see it all unfold. Mountain views, alpine pastures, flowering mountain meadows and a perfectly maintained course make every shot an experience. This course requires strategy, precision and a good dose of courage.

Donald Harradine’s favourite hole

The ninth hole was the favourite of the golf course’s designer, Donald Harradine. – The renowned British golf course architect conjured up the GC Seefeld-Wildmoos from 1967 onwards, under difficult conditions, in a region that had originally been intended ‘only’ for cross-country skiing competitions. Marc Hodler, then President of the International Ski Federation, gave the people of Seefeld the idea in 1963 of building a golf course in Wildmoos, which actually became a reality in 1969. – The 9th is the hole on the way back to the clubhouse. Your shot doesn’t have to be perfect here; once the ball is in the air, it rolls wonderfully far downhill towards the green. From the 10th hole onwards, the course heads uphill again and becomes no less challenging. The 14th – once the longest hole in Europe – features a large rock on the right. You play your shot forward and then it’s a steep descent, just like a ski run. The course continues with challenging holes, accompanied by picturesque barns and spectacular views of the Karwendel and Stubai Alps. Particularly striking is the distinctive rocky peak of the Hohe Munde, which repeatedly comes into view behind the fairways, alpine pastures and woods.

Forget the bad shots and take a moment to appreciate the brave pioneers who, more than 50 years ago, wove the magic of golf into the Alpine landscape. What began in 1969 as a visionary project is now regarded as the ‘Jewel of the Alps’ – a place where tradition, sporting spirit and community have remained alive.

From the courageous founders led by Walter Frenes, Max Seyrl and Fritz Wilberger to today’s members, an impressive success story unfolds: countless tournaments, remarkable personalities and a course that remains unforgettable thanks to its location at 1,300 metres, its panoramic views and its character.

The anniversary year 2024 is all about renewal and gratitude. Modern course maintenance, sustainable irrigation and a new design are leading the golf club into the future – without losing its soul. President Ernst Steger, Club Manager Julia Dimke and the entire team are committed to team spirit, quality and Tyrolean warmth.
