Your Slice is more than just technology
Does your driver keep veering off to the right? If so, it’s not just down to your technique. In this video, you’ll find out why your slice often starts even before you take the swing – due to anticipation, avoidance, uncertainty and a lack of commitment at the tee.
Many golfers believe they just need to fix their swing to get rid of the slice. Of course, swing path, clubface, grip and timing all play an important role. But out on the course, there’s a second factor at play: the mental state in which you execute your swing.
When you’re standing on the tee and all you’re thinking to yourself is, ‘Please don’t go right’, then ‘right’ is already the strongest image in your mind. This is precisely what often results in a defensive, cautious and controlling swing – and the ball ends up exactly where you didn’t want it to go.
In this video, I’ll show you why your slice isn’t just a technical problem, but often also a pattern of expectation, avoidance and a lack of confidence. You’ll be given a clear step-by-step process to help you switch out of avoidance mode before your drive and play a decisive shot towards the target once again.
In this video, you’ll learn:
- why your slice often starts even before the swing
- why ‘Please not to the right’ isn’t a helpful inner command
- why many golfers actually exacerbate their slice through compensation
- why technique often works on the driving range but can’t be replicated on the course
- how expectation, fear and uncertainty affect your driver
- which 4-step process you can use before teeing off
- how to shift your focus away from the problem and back onto your target
- why commitment to the ball is more important than the next technical thought
Personalised golf performance weekend in Westendorf
At my home club, the Kitzbüheler Alpen Westendorf Golf Club, I’m not offering any traditional group mental training weeks this year.
Instead, I’ll be working with golfers individually and in a targeted manner directly on the course – over an extended golf performance weekend from Friday to Sunday.
We’ll work where your golf really happens:
• at the tee
• on narrow fairways
• after wayward shots
• when facing difficult decisions
• with recurring patterns such as a slice, pressure, uncertainty or a lack of confidence
• on clear routines and consistent execution on the course
The aim is no longer theory. The aim is execution.
If you’re interested in this personalised golf performance weekend, simply send me a short email with the phrase:
“I’m interested.”
