Bad weather

Bad weather can be a real challenge on the golf course.
The rain, the wind and even the cold can be uncomfortable. It's easy to get dragged down by such conditions, but here is where our mental spaces come into play. When we allow ourselves to be discouraged by bad weather, we allow our mental spaces to flood with negative thoughts. But there is another option.

I don't like playing in the rain either. But when I'm signed up for a tournament or a team game, I look for ways to make the best of the situation. And yes, even in the rain it can be fun to be out on the golf course.

One of the most important questions you should ask yourself is: Are you well organised? Do you have everything you need to stay dry for as long as possible and have dry grips on the last hole? If you can do this, you are well on the way to achieving a good result. And not only that, you will also realise that your mental strength is growing.

Have you ever trained in the rain? Or do you run into the hut every time it rains? Remember that your mental space is a reflection of your actual experiences. The more you train in difficult conditions, the better you will be able to prepare for them.

Here are some things you should definitely have with you:

  • a rain suit
  • an umbrella
  • several towels
  • rain gloves
  • Rain cover for the golf bag

Maybe you can think of even more - then make a list of things that would be important to you. That way you have a plan for bad weather.
