Changes to the Rules of Golf 2023 - Part 1

From 1 January 2023, the Rules of Golf will be revised and reissued every four years. There were many changes in 2019, some of which had a significant impact on the game. In the 2023 edition, many formulations in the English text have now been clarified and clarified, which then also led to a correspondingly adapted translation. This will be available towards the end of 2022.

Rule 1.3c(4) Application of penalties for multiple offences
-> The rule has been amended so that the decision as to whether offences are related or unrelated no longer plays a role in the application, i.e. there will be fewer cases in which multiple penalties are due.
-> Multiple penalties will only be imposed if the offences are interrupted by the following actions: striking a blow and being aware that an offence has been committed
-> This reduces the risk of "follow-up errors" and accidental overlooking or uncertainty about the penalty for the second offence.
