Rule 11.1b Ball in motion accidentally hits person or outside influence: place from which the ball must be played

Rule 11.1b has been rewritten for greater clarity
Rule 11.1b(2) has been amended to clarify that if a ball played off the green hits an insect, the player or the club used to hit the ball, the ball is played as it lies - the shot is not replayed.
Whether an insect deflects the ball can hardly be judged realistically, unless it is so large that the player can see it and could set it aside beforehand. Shots that hit the player or his club, on the other hand, are the sole responsibility of the player and do not deserve to be repeated without penalty.
