Course Management - Mental
There are four key elements or "pillars" that together form a solid foundation for good golf. They are like the legs of a table - if one is missing, the whole table becomes unstable. Each of the four legs is important. They can be seen as a mathematical equation:
Technique x Physical x Equipment x Mental = Success.
Once you have ticked off the first three points and gained a better understanding of yourself, you can start with productive "thinking". This is crucial to avoid getting in your own way.
Becoming mentally strong doesn't mean just shouting "Chaka Chaka" and then expecting everything to work itself out. You need to know yourself and know what you can realistically trust yourself to do and what not. It is not necessary to constantly try out new things. The aim is to always do the same thing safely and confidently in order to achieve a consistent performance.
You need to stay mentally alert, stay calm and see the things that can help you. You need to see the shots that are realistic and not try emotionally rash shots.
One of the most important qualities you need as a golfer is hidden in the word "acceptance". It's important to take things as they happen and not lament why bad luck always follows you around.
