Do I have to keep my head down?
"You always have to keep your head down" This is probably one of the most nonsensical sayings in golf that I know - and unfortunately also one that I hear most often on golf courses! From a purely anatomical point of view, the head is at the top. And that's where it should stay!
Nobody wants to bend their head so much that they end up in such a crooked position. From a medical point of view, you can hardly put more strain on your spine in the golf swing. And all because of a translation error! "Keep your head behind the ball" does not mean that you should keep your head down. It's about the moment of impact!
If you want to make a free, effective golf swing, your head should stay up and your sternum open. This facilitates a full body turn and brings more energy into the swing. The head should stay in the same place as much as possible - but never go down!
Summary: The head remains at the same height during the swing!
