In addition to the beautiful expanse of Lake Neusiedl, Burgenland also features four fantastic golf courses.

Two of the four golf courses are in the northern part of Burgenland and two in the southern part. The 27-hole facility of the Reiters Bad Tatzmannsdorf GC is the golfing home of Bernd Wiesberger, Austria’s number 1 player! The region boasts more than 300 days of sunshine a year. In mild winters, the golf courses can even be played throughout the year.

The province

Lake Neusiedl

Austria’s biggest lake by surface area.

Lake Neusiedl (German: Neusiedler See) is Central Europe’s largest lake without an outflow and a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. With its reed bed, shallow water and mild but windy climate, the lake is perfect for sailing, kitesurfing and windsurfing. Because of its unique fauna and flora, it is protected as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.

Red wine & Uhudler in southern Burgenland

Uhudler is the name of a traditional, legendary wine cultivated in southern Burgenland.

Uhudler grapes derive from crossings with North American grapes. They are disease-resistant and require no chemical pest management. Uhudler wine is a pure product of nature. The name Uhudler may only be used for wines that have passed a sensory and chemical examination. Depending on the variety and the region, the colour varies from pale yellow to bright cherry red.

Esterházy Palace

The baroque building of Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt offers interesting insights into the splendour of life at the court of the Princes Esterházy in bygone times.

Because of its magnificent acoustics, the Haydn Hall at the palace is still used as a venue for concerts and festivals. The palace cellar contains the largest wine museum in Austria.

Mörbisch Lake Festival

The Mörbisch Lake Festival is an annual operetta festival in Mörbisch am See.

With about 150,000 visitors, the Mörbisch Lake Festival is the world’s largest operetta festival. The natural setting of Lake Neusiedl is always integrated into the stage design. The Mörbisch Lake Festival is a must-see for arts and culture enthusiasts in the summer months of July and August!
