How should I shift the weight in the swing?
An intensive weight transfer is required in the golf swing: In the downswing, the body weight should be shifted to the left foot. This means that at the end of the swing you are theoretically standing fully on your left foot and with your right foot only on your toes.
It is important that the pelvis does not shift to the left, but that the left hip or the left side of the body turns to the left through the ball.
The exciting question is: when and how should the weight shift ideally be initiated?
For the vast majority of amateur golfers, I recommend initiating the downswing with the arms first, followed by the legs or the knee.
Arms first, then legs
-> This requires coordination and not an over-motivated throwing in of the lower body. I advise less agile golfers to initiate the downswing with the right knee. This prevents you from falling back onto your right foot.
If you pay attention to slow-motion television programmes, you will notice that even the best golfers in the world do not perform a very intensive weight shift. The coordination between body, arms and legs requires a high degree of accuracy and a very good swing rhythm: a lot of movement in a very short time.
