Golf holiday in the Salzburger Lungau

A golf holiday in Lungau is a great tip for beginners and sporty golfers alike! The Lungau-Katschberg Golf Club offers a very beautiful, flat 18-hole golf course, the charming Lungau9 course and a spacious practice facility.

On the Open9 course, beginners and short game fans will find eight par 3s and one par 4, lovingly designed with obstacles, like a "big golf course". Golfers without a club membership can also play to their heart's content here.

The 18-hole championship golf course is located in the flat Murtal valley, surrounded by the mystical mountain landscape of this sunny golf region. Golf course designer Keith Preston created a golfing gem here in 1992 at 1,050 metres above sea level, along the natural course of the Mur, which presents many a golfer with challenges.

The location of the Lungau golf region, between the Radstädter Tauern and Carinthian Nockberge mountains, ensures that the Lungau is particularly sheltered from the wind, there is hardly any fog and the air and water are of the very highest quality. After a round of golf in the mountains, you can relax by beautiful mountain lakes and in an ancient cultural landscape. Due to the high conservation value of the natural region, such as the quality of life, the traditions and the very special culture, this region was recognised as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2012.

Castles and palaces

Mighty castle complexes still bear witness to the strategically important position of the Lungau region. For example, the 13th century toll castle "Mauterndorf" offers a fascinating journey back in time to the Middle Ages. The ruins of Finstergrün Castle are an exciting fairytale castle for young and old and the picturesque Moosham Castle today bears witness to the trials of witches, sorcerers and beggars.

Ramingstein silver mine

If you are looking for an adventurous change away from fairways and greens on your golf holiday, the show mine in Ramingstein is the perfect place. Here you can see how silver mining worked over 200 years ago.

The guided tour "What's glittering and shining there" is particularly popular with children, where they can cast small metal ingots in the old blast furnace facilities and search for gold and silver treasures while panning for ore.
