The four pillars of good golf - golf swing technique

Each of the four pillars is important. They can be seen as a mathematical equation:
Technique x Physical x Equipment x Mental = Success.

Of course, technique is essential. But often amateur golfers and amateurs focus so much on the technique of the golf swing that they neglect the other pillars. Let's look at the example of John Rahm: The Spaniard reached the top of the world rankings without dominating in any single tour statistic. Sometimes I get the impression that when it comes to technique, the focus is not on consistency but on distance. John Rahm is the best example of this: he is good in all areas and is the best overall.

If you're looking at the golf swing, then it's best to concentrate on your own, not on that of others. Taking the Tour pros' swing as a model will not really help you. Get to know your own swing first, with all its special features. When was the last time you recorded your golf swing on video? The perception of your own movement often has little to do with reality. Only when you watch your swing regularly will you develop a feel for your movements. This feeling is not only important for making technical corrections, but also helps you to understand your swing tendencies and the cause of your misses. The best way to do this is with a good golf coach.

What does hitting tendency mean? We all have a natural swing: either a left curve (hook) or a right curve (slice). Every golfer should not only know his natural flight curve, but also accept it. Even the best players in the world have their tendencies and can cope with them. They even make it their strength because they always do the same thing and don't deviate from it.

Knowing what you can't do is a strength. So if you know that your ball tends to fly with a slice curve, this should influence your strategy and tactical decisions on the court. With a pronounced slice, there are certainly smarter decisions than playing the driver at full power.
Knowing your own technique is the basis. Knowing your weaknesses is a strength.
