The four pillars of good golf

We have focused on the mental attitude and emphasised its importance. However, it is important to understand that although the mental aspect plays a crucial role, it does not make up the entire game of golf. In fact, there are four key elements or "pillars" that together form a solid foundation for good golf. They are like the legs of a table - if one is missing, the whole table becomes unstable. The mental aspect is one of these pillars, but there are three others that are equally important: the technique of the golf swing, the physicality and the equipment.

Each of the four pillars is important. They can be seen like a mathematical equation:
Technique x Physical x Equipment x Mental = Success.

If one of the factors in the equation is zero, successful golf is not possible. When optimising the factors, I repeatedly observe that the focus is placed on technique and physicality. Equipment and, above all, the mental aspect are often underestimated. Perhaps also because the mental aspect is less tangible and concrete.

Let us now delve deeper into the individual pillars and begin to create a solid foundation for your golf game. You will see that with an understanding of these four pillars and the resulting targeted work, your golf game will improve significantly. And always remember: the path to a better golf game is a process, not a sprint. You have already taken the first step by working on your mental space. Now we are building on this foundation.
