The routines of the best - tips for the driving range & the course - Part 4
Tip 5: Simulate a golf course
I think this training session is exceptional, but only a few people can keep it up. However, if you persevere, you will develop unshakeable self-confidence and become increasingly confident. The task is to play an 18-hole round on the driving range, but without putting. Here is the explanation:
Warm up with a few shots first. Then start playing your course, starting with the first tee shot, using the club you would normally take. Judge the quality of your shot and then play the second shot with a different club, just as you would on the course. Then play your third shot onto the green - you don't need to putt. Now go to the second hole and so on. You simulate a complete round on the driving range.
You decide for yourself how far you get. The aim is to play a complete 18-hole round. Take your time, because you have to constantly change clubs and prepare for the next shot and club - just like in real life! You will soon realise that hitting balls is much more fun this way. You can play as if you were on your home course, even though you are on the range.
When you go out on the course, you will radiate a great sense of security and feel confident. This will be particularly evident once you have managed to cleverly get the ball back into play after a missed tee shot, for example.
I'm curious to see how many holes you can play through on the range, i.e. how long your concentration lasts. Repeat it until you can get through an 18-hole round. With this exercise, it is particularly important to find your routine and repeat it again and again. This would be perfect training and you will be able to transfer the quality of the training to the course.
