Facts why you should choose a golf holiday in SalzburgerLand

and why Salzburg is worth a golf holiday

For a golf trip to be a success, you need more than just beautiful golf courses and great golf resorts. The "trappings" are also important. That's why you'll find further criteria here to help guide you. Your feature for golf holiday happiness is not included?

Eighteen holes of golf will tell you more about the other player than nineteen years together at a desk.

15 varied golf courses for pure golfing pleasure

When playing golf in SalzburgerLand, you have the choice between 15 Salzburg golf clubs with a total of four 9-hole golf courses, eight 18-hole golf courses, three 27-hole golf courses and one golf club with 36 holes. Four 18-hole golf courses in Salzburg belong to the Leading Golf Courses, whereby every golf course in Salzburg that we present here is in very good condition and offers a paradisiacal natural landscape.

Golf hotels in SalzburgerLand

The Salzburg golf hotels are all run by the owner families themselves and offer excellent golf services. The hotel will reserve tee times on your favourite golf courses at the most favourable green fee prices. There are lockable rooms for your golf equipment. If it rains, the golf hotels in SalzburgerLand offer drying rooms for your shoes and clubs. Your hosts will be happy to advise you on the choice of golf courses and will do everything to make your golf holiday in SalzburgerLand an impressive experience.

Golf resorts in SalzburgerLand

You won't find any classic golf resorts in SalzburgerLand where you have a secluded hotel and golf course.

It's better here: in SalzburgerLand, you can make tranquil villages the centre of your stay during your golf holiday. Take the hotel's own golf cart to Tee 1 of the golf club near the hotel and take a break at the hotel whenever you want. After your round of golf, make use of the nearby bathing lake, the wellness centre, the wide range of leisure activities on offer or simply lie down under a tree and enjoy some time to yourself. The golf regions in SalzburgerLand

Like the Salzburg golf courses, the golf regions in SalzburgerLand are also very different.

There is Mozartgolf at the gates of the festival city of Salzburg, the Salzkammergut in Salzburg, the idyllic sunny plateau of Goldegg am See, the rugged Gastein Valley with one of the oldest golf courses in SalzburgerLand, sporty Radstadt with an excellent golf school and Europe's only golf gondola lift, Zell am See: 36 holes between glacier, mountain and lake, Saalfelden Leogang with not one but two beautiful 18-hole golf courses, Salzburg's Lungau, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve with mystical nature experiences and a very beautiful, flat 27-hole golf course and the Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region amidst 266 three-thousand metre peaks.

The flat Salzburg "inner mountain squares"

We refer to the golf courses located south of the Tennengebirge and Hagengebirge mountains as "Innergebirge" golf courses.

Many of these golf courses are, surprisingly for some guests, completely flat, but offer spectacular views of the Salzburg mountains. The two 18-hole courses at the Zell am See-Kaprun Golf Club, for example, are located in the "board-living" Salzach Valley and virtually present the snow-covered summit of the Kitzsteinhorn, which is also one of the top excursion destinations in SalzburgerLand in summer. At Golfclub Gut Brandlhof you play on the flat valley floor of the Saalach between the steep slopes of the Leoganger Steinberge and the Steinernes Meer. At the Urslautal Golf Club, the horizon widens again and the Steinernes Meer provides a picturesque visual finish to the north.

Golfing in a nature reserve

There are two golf courses in SalzburgerLand that are located in the middle of a nature reserve.

Golfclub Mittersill even changed its name to Golfclub Nationalpark Hohe Tauern a few years ago. This Salzburg golf course is located in the largest national park in Austria and the Alps.

The Lungau Katschberg Golf Club is located in the 1,500 km² UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Here, natural and cultural landscapes alternate between 3,000 metre peaks and deep valleys at 600 metres above sea level. UNESCO biosphere parks characterise and protect particularly valuable habitats in terms of nature and culture.

The somewhat hillier golf courses in the Salzburg "Innergebirge"

You will need a little more stamina if you play the Salzburg golf courses in Radstadt, Gastein or Goldegg without e-trolleys or carts.

But in our opinion, every step is worth it! On these Salzburg golf courses you can expect picture-book tee-offs in front of alpine mountain backdrops, a waterfall, thermal spring water fountains and unforgettable fairways.

Golf at the gates of the baroque city of Salzburg

Mozartgolf

Golf holidays in the Salzburg golf region Mozartgolf offers a wide range of activities. The Leading Golf Course Gut Altentann is the first golf course on the European mainland to be designed by the legend Jack Nicklaus. Golf HOLIDAY at the gates of the city of Salzburg

We recommend the Romantik Spa Hotel Elixhauser Wirt, the 675-year-old "Dorfwirtshaus" with award-winning cuisine and elegant wellness on the roof, and Ebner's Waldhof on Lake Fuschl with its own Waldhofalm golf course and picturesque lake views as very nice golf hotels around the city of Salzburg. The Seeroas golf tournament is legendary here, where you start on the 9-hole Salzburg Romantikcourse Fuschl golf club, complete the "halfway station" with a boat trip across Lake Fuschl and finish the second 9 holes on the Waldhof golf club, the hotel's own golf course.

At this golf hotel, you can either swim in the turquoise-green Fuschlsee directly in front of the hotel or use the 4,000m2 Waldhof Spa. Or you can jump into Lake Zell at the Seehotel Bellevue's bathing beach with a view of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. Guests at the Golfhotel zur Post on the warm Goldegg Lake can picnic in the hotel's own rowing boat or relax in the natural paradise between the lake and golf course.

Golf hotels in SalzburgerLand with "golf-loving" hosts

All Golf in Austria golf hotels have hosts who are competent when it comes to golf and who fulfil the wishes of their golfing guests in the best possible way.

But if you want to share your personal passion for golf with your host on the golf course, the Sporthotel Alpin, the Hotel & Restaurant Wastlwirt, the Hotel Gut Weissenhof or the Haidvogl Mavida are just the right golf hotels for you! Guest golf tournaments, golfing get-togethers and joint excursions are at the centre of activities at these Salzburg golf hotels.

Culinary specialities in the Salzburg golf hotels

All Salzburg golf hotels offer very good cuisine.

Traditional Salzburg dishes are also interpreted in a light and modern way in the kitchens of the golf hotels using the best ingredients from the region. The Salzburg Tauern lamb, Lungauer Eachtling (a special type of potato), crayfish and fish from local waters are very popular.

Salzburg

Salzburg is the capital of the federal state of the same name.

It is the fourth largest city in Austria with around 156,000 inhabitants. Salzburg's most famous composer is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, born in 1756, which is why the city is nicknamed "Mozart City" and the airport is called "Salzburg Airport W. A. Mozart". The historic centre of the city has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1996.
